I am writing a book on USAF flight helmets that is tentatively titled USAF Jet Age Flight helmets- a developmental and operational history. In a prior book, the authors used helmet photos from private collections and frankly, there were many errors.  I want to avoid this problem by using authentic USAF photos or photos taken in the field by life support or aircrew. It is my goal to authenticate every helmet mentioned with a photo.

I need close up photos of aircrews in their helmets and oxygen masks. The more detail the better. Photo date, aircraft/squadron, identification of individuals (unless you don’t want them mentioned). Example: 186th FIS pilot in the cockpit of his F-106, Dec 1973 at Great Falls International Airport).

Photos of life support technicians doing there job fitting helmets, inspecting equipment etc….I will pay for postage and return everything I receive.-I will honor your wishes on photo credits… if you don’t want to be mentioned, no problem.

Thanks,

Steve
